BMW owners believed to be Britain's worst drivers

New research from Auto Trader Compare has revealed that many of us believe BMW owners to be the worst drivers on Britiain's roads. 59% of respondents voted BMW driver's the worst with Subaru drivers second at 42% and Porsche drivers third with 39%.

The survey results showed that BMW drivers are most associated with bad or inefficient driving, with 68% claiming that poor drivers of these vehicles drive too fast, overtake in dangerously, intimidate other road users and drive too close to the car in front.

Ford Owners Make the Most Insurance Claims

Whilst BMW drivers are being seen as the worst on our roads, those actually making the most motor insurance claims are Ford owners. Data from Swiftcover reviewed claims made between April 2008 and April 2009 and showed that Ford owners top the table with 23% of claims, followed by Vauxhall owners (15%), VW (12%), Renault (11%) and Peugeot (10%).

Whilst some UK motorists are happy to find fault in other road users, it appears they are less critical of their own abilities as the survey results also show that 22% of motorists rate their driving as 'excellent' and 63% as 'good'.

Marketing Director at AutoTrader.co.uk, Matt Thompson, said... "It's good that most motorists recognise bad driving habits, both in themselves and other road users. However, the important thing is that motorists change these bad driving habits because with the rising cost of motoring, it is well worth driving responsibly to stay safe and ensure your insurance premiums stay low."

I used to believe that BMW drivers were the worst on the road and I actually sold mine because I hated being included, but over the years I have come to believe that the dubious title must go to drivers of the Ford Focus. I have NEVER passed one, without them busting a gut to get back in front and I mean NEVER. I have mentioned this to family and friends and after some consideration, most agree with me.
