Water insurance promotion raises consumer watchdog angst

Scottish Water has been told it's apparent marketing of a private insurance scheme is inappropriate given it's role as a publicly-owned company.

Homeowner apathy could line insurers' pockets

Homeowners who don't bother shopping around to compare home insurance deals could be wasting a combined £1.7 billion a year according to new research.

Flood insurance under scrutiny

An MP has called for a review of home insurance after finding some constituents in flood-risk areas had seen premiums rise five-fold.

Home insurance premiums reach record high

The AA has reported that premiums for both contents and buildings cover have risen, the latter to an all-time high.

Disasters have knock-on effect for policy costs

Lloyd's of London has warned that insurance premiums could rise as a result of global natural disasters.

Insurers and government battle over flood cover

Insurers are continuing to warn that they might not be able to guarantee offering flood protection to some customers if government cutbacks affect the budget for flood defences.
