Totally diabolic service - complete power outage on lower floor, not an emergency. Tiles blown off in the winds, would not repair as it was not at least 1/3 of the roof gone. Customer services - terrible, admins - disasterous. Account closed by us and re-instated by homeserve, monies taken and very rude reps when I called for refund!

Out of 4 problems I rang them about, 3 were not covered (dripping taps, leaking wastepipe). For the fourth problem (blocked drain) a "plumber" turned up 3 hours late without any tools and any apology. He poked about with a stick he found in the garden before giving up. The worst company I've had the misfortune to have dealings with.

Absolutely the worst service of any company ever experienced. 24hr emergency call out line yes, but they take an hour to answer it, then would you believe it it's been 4 weeks since we called them still no show. I cannot express in words how incompetent this company is. We are currently reporting them to the FSA.

I have made my first claim to repair a water stop cock. Three appointments made, three times no show. Having read the reviews I think I might be lucky the Homeserve plumber did not turn up. Booking the appointment was confused, Homeserve and the plumber telling me different procedures to book the visit.
Worse than useless! 0/5

After looking into insurance, looking at the comments, I figure that there are only a handful for the amount of people that are insured with HomeServe. In every company there will be the odd complaint, so I gues they must be all right. Esp looking at their sales and retention figures, if they really were that bad, surely the retention figures would be terrible?

Fast response by engineer (Plumber) who had no WD40 and no Molegrips, asked to borrow mine. Failed to complete the job, second set of engineers collapsed a water pipe spilling 10-15 gal of rusty water over lounge carpet and ceramic kitchen tiles... Homeserve...Homerubbish.

I can find no reviews relating to the 'electrical wiring' cover - has anyone ever actually either purchased or claimed on this aspect of HomeServe's policy?

I just wanted to let others know that when looking for alternative service cover, I found these reviews and as a result, will not be switching to HomeServe. I know this is of little consolation for those that have experienced problems but at least it shows others and hopefully HomeServe that their lack of ownership to problems will result in consumers turning away from their products. Thanks all for your reviews - they really helped.

When we claimed we were told our claim was invalid and we weren’t covered, so having spent £70 in cover with Homeserve (via Thames Water) we ended up paying their "plumber" £200 to fix a blocked drain. We complained in writing and they just wrote back and stated that their engineers advised that remedial work was needed and this work was excluded under the policy. So we never got our £200 back. Best advice we can give is avoid Homeserve

Homeserve were assigned to our kitchen repair after an insurance claim via Nationwide. 4mths later and we are still without a working kitchen, no cooker and no running Hot water (We have 2 young children and been living from Microwave food for 4mths !) Communciation and service has been non-existant. Phone calls never returned, inexperienced plumbers and kitchen fitters who do not turn to site.
Avoid this company at all costs !

I am appalled at the service you have given my father. He is 73 years old and has had different insurances all his life for one thing or another and has never come across such an incompetant company.

Homeserve are probably one of the, if not the worst Company I have ever dealt with - unreliable, do not keep appointments, engineers who do not know what they are doing and a lot of passing the buck - if you are looking for a heating or similar policy definitely look elsewhere!

My boiler stopped working on the 22 March. I thought it would be an easy job to call Homeserve to sort out the problem. How wrong I was! I am in the middle of a nightmare. Nobody phones or lets me know what is going on or rather, not going on. Where in the contract does it say that Homeserve will do their best to make sure the claim is dealt with by the most incompetent people I have ever come across. I'm sure Joseph will let me know.

I have been without heating or hot water for almost 2 weeks and it is likely to last another week at best. No-one ever contacts us. I have a sick child in the house. This is the most appalling service. Also they say they give 30 pounds towards heating if the parts take longer than 72 hours. When I mentioned this on the phone no-one had heard of this. Does anyone who can do something actually read these comments?

Joseph its interesting to hear that you have read all of these reviews. Maybe it would be good if rather than just concentrating on selling Homeserve could spend a lot more time making sure that their customers do read and understand the policy terms so that they fully understand the limitations of the cover provided before they spend their hard earned cash. It might actually reduce the number of horror stories on this web site.

Someone has pointed out to me that I should make it clear that I do actually work for Homeserve

I have read all of these reviews and I do not believe any of you have once read your policy terms, or given them more than a slight glance. Would you take out a mortgage on your home in 'good faith'? Why do the same for an insurance policy.
You have 28 days to read these policys and cancel them if you wish, any money will be refunded in full upon doing so. I would suggest you spend 20 minutes of your time reading these policys.

You might as well throw your money down the drain.........very good at quoting reasons why you are not covered in the event of an emergency - most appalling customer service ever!!

People beware, useless, incompetent. They sent me a plumber who told me I would need an engineer to unblock the bath waste. (will send fuller details at later date).

Complete and utter waste of time. Not at all customer orientated, unhelpful and obstructive. Credentials suspect, not forth coming about trade affiliations and doubt they are as well trained and experienced as they say they are. Keep well away.
