Customer Review Comments:
I insured a motorcycle with Hastings Direct for 12 months. At the end of that period I sold my bike but eight days later I saw that the premium for a further 12 months had been automatically taken from my bank account.
After four phone calls to different people (who appeared to know nothing about my previous calls) explaining that I did not want a further 12 months motorbike insurance, they said that I had failed to tell them that I did not want it and as they had insured me for the past eight days, they could not refund me in full. They then changed their story and said that I had to prove, with paperwork from the DVLA that I had sold the bike before they would do anything! Like it has got anything to do with them what I have done with my bike.
I suggested that they looked on their insurers database, where it would be clear that the new owner had insured the bike himself eight days ago - they would not do this. Each time I spoke to someone they state that my previous calls had not been logged on their computer system.
Eventually they cancelled the policy and charged me for eight days insurance despite me not asking to be insured and despite not giving them permission to remove the funds from my account.
