Review of AA Car Insurance

A couple of months ago I was in bed and woke up after hearing someone crash into the back of my car which was written off.

I contacted the AA and they passed me to the underwriters of my policy. Basically AA car insurance only act as a broker for other insurance companies like Kinetics, be aware if your policy is underwritten by this GANG (to give them a name).

They said that they would check if the car was repairable and I eventually received a letter advising me that the value of my car was about £1500. This was considerably less than I paid 5 months before at a reputable garage. Thankfully I also bought GAP insurance with my car which will pay the difference between the actual value of the car and the price I paid for it.

Here is when the problems started, the insurance company used a car magazine (Auto Trader) to value my car, meanwhile the GAP insurer did what any other company would do and used a company that value's cars by the real market price. The result is a joke!! The difference between the prices is over £700 pounds after the excess!!!!

I´ve contacted the Insurance Ombudsman to lodge a formal complaint against the insurance company. So if you value your money don´t and I reapeat don´t purchase insurance with AA or you will pay for it!!
