Suddenly after many years of accident free motoring, I had a prang which was not my fault. Yeah I know we all say that but I have photo evidence to back me up taken at the time via a good quality mobile phone camera. Minor that it was, photo's show other party clearly at fault.
I was sent a statement form from NIG insurance which I took time to fill in and enclosed the copied photo`s, put all ref numbers in the correct place and sent the completed form back to N.I.G (in a age of the internet they can't be emailed!!!!) so snail mail it was.
I received a further letter with same claim form asking me to send details of incident and supposedly containing other parties version of events - NOT ENCLOSED!!! The letter also stating that "Any queries please contact [name deleted] on an 0845 number Mon-Fri 8am-8pm & Sat 9am to 5pm". Yet when tried I got an answerphone message which declared 9am to 5pm hours only.
Finally got through and lo and behold they haven't got my first set of papers and the person to speak to isn't available. The person I did speak to was not very helpful and couldn't understand why the other parties version wasn't enclosed. They wanted to know where I sent my completed doc`s (IN THEIR SUPPLIED ENVELOPE).
This is on going so watch this space. My advice and, I agree with others, N.I.G are not helpful in any way, mislead about their opening hours and they are supposed to be supportive of their own customers. Which they most definitely are not.
A note here as well about the broker I used who supplied the insurance - just passed the buck.
