My experience with Marks and Spencer Home Insurance has lead me to change all my policies over to them.
On a recent holiday our possessions were stolen from our car. Making a claim on our Travel Insurance with Tesco suddenly became difficult. We needed receipts for items stolen, evidence that the items belonged to us and police reports. It also became obvious that certain items like cameras, cash and high value items like a handbag of £150 weren't covered. So we spoke to M&S Home insurance, explained the situation, sent them (by fax) the same correspondence as Tesco. Within 3 hours M&S confirmed they would payout, under our "Possessions Away From Home" cover, the items not covered by Tesco and that the money would be in our account by the end of the week.
It has been 6 weeks since this claim and Tesco are still requesting original receipts and making us regret taking out a policy with them. M&S maybe more expensive but for piece of mind - it's worth every penny.
