Review of Homeserve Home Emergency Cover

Customer Review Comments:

Absolute rubbish, they have no intention to deal with anything that normal people consider an emergency.

Over the last 2 years I have called them out twice. The last occasion was a simple defect, the ball valve in the hot water storage tank in the loft failed and water was coming out of the overflow. A simple replacement of the ball valve, £10 and 15 minutes. Phoned them and told them that I had turned off the water at the mains. Reply !!! call a plumber as because I had turned the water off it was not now an emergency even though I had no water. Had to call a local plumber, £70 !!!

An absolute waste of time.

Good Points: none at all, tried to think of one but couldn't
Bad Points: just about everything

The overflow pipe is built into houses to stop an emergency happening. The fact you turned off your water had nothing to do with the cover decision, if you read your policy terms the Plumbing and Drainage Emergency policy excludes water leaking externaly out of an overflow pipe. A wet garden is not an emergency and turning off your stop valve was a little extreme.
