We rang British Gas to report that we had an electrical problem with our gas boiler - that it would not ignite. They said it would take 6 days for an engineer to visit even though we have the 24 hour 365 day Homecare Insurance cover. They explained that cavemen never had gas central heating & they survived! I asked to speak to the duty manager but was told that would not be possible but they would open a complaint and someone would phone me...they never did!
We eventually had to pay a local gas engineer to sort it out - when I informed British Gas they said it would save them a visit & that they would cancel my complaint.
I asked to cancel the policy & get a refund but was told that would not be possible & they put the phone down! Great! Moto - DO NOT USE BRITISH GAS!
