Back in July 2011, l was involved in an accident whilst my car was stationary. Being covered fully comprehensive with no claims protected etc. l contacted my insurance company AGEAS. The most constructive thing they did was send me a claim form, since then l have had to do all the running.
They were supplied all the information and supportive photographs. After me 'chasing them up' they have eventually offered to settle the claim on the basis that l was 50% to blame !!!!!! Guess what.... the other driver is also insured with AGEAS but AGEAS are declining to tell me the other drivers version !!!!!!.
They have made no investigation, no contact with myself and even failed to acknowledge my complaint. Pathetic service.... no wonder one and a half million drivers are not insured, who would be daft enough to trust these insurance companies, they do nothing to encourage support and repay honesty. Furthermore if you check the official ombudsman complaints data for the period Jan to June 2011, guess who is already in the hundreds of complaints.
They are uncaring and unprofessional. Always check with your broker as to who the actual insurance is with, don't leave it till you have to claim. Remember they won't help you and they don't have offices that you can visit, it's all done by phone and they are a Belgium company !!!!
Finally despite having fully comprehensive cover and no claims protected bonus they still want me to lose £100 excess but the sneeky trick is that new insurance would include a minimum £250 excess so don't believe that all your premiums are effective, they have a way around everything. AGEAS ahead with complaints, no wonder they won't acknowledge another one.
