Had a bad house fire on 27th January 2011. Assurant Solutions promised to make up front staged payments to cover all costs. Apart from first payments all following payments were late and progressively got later, leaving us with no option but to borrow money to finance rebuild work.
By the time we moved back in (August) they owed us over £88,000, resulting in us being in a huge amount of debt and having almost no replacement furniture and sleeping on borrowed matresses on the floor.
They made a further 2 payments, the last one almost 2 months after completion. They've refused to pay any more despite having all the receipts, and some huge savings we've made for them during the rebuild.
During the whole process they continually changed the rules and moved the goal posts further adding to our stress. To date they still owe us well over £20,000 and it's now in the hands of the ombudsman.
In short they managed to turn the most traumatic experience of our lives into one of the most stressful as well. I'd rather amputate my own arm with a tea spoon than insure with Assurant solutions again.
