I had a patio window explode and having NEVER made a claim on a Buildings or Contents policy rang Churchill and told them what had happened. This is when all my expectations of Insurance were blown to hell!
Get a quote from a Glazier - did that, had him look at the damage and determine the cause - an impact of unknown origin.
Ordered a complete new setup as the glazier had said the frame was now buckled and replacement glass was not an option, did this knowing that however long the insurance took the doors were going to have to be replaced and because of the size of the pane of glass there was a chance the second pane would go because of it's weakened state. Decided to go for a more expensive setup but sent the cheapest quote to Churchill, so instead of £1400 sent in £1100 claim.
Churchill have spoken to the Glazier and asked for a breakdown of the price of the glass - He told them that was not an option as the frame had buckled - which they were sent a photograph of.
Have made endless calls - they do cover - they don't cover - this isn't really covered - have just had an offer £146.
