Customer Review Comments:
I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building so kept my bike in the purpose-built communal bike shed. My bike was stolen, and even though the shed is secured with a 5-lever lock as specified in the policy wording, and the bike was locked to the rack with an approved D-lock, E&L refused my claim on the basis that the bike shed is a "communal area".

In other words, the policy is worthless unless you keep your bike inside your living space (or a shed/garage to which only YOU have access).

If you live in a flat, apartment or student halls and use communal bike storage facilities, this policy is a waste of money.

Good Points:
Bad Points: Completely impractical for anybody living in shared accomodation ie. flat/apartments

I had the same problem with EandL. I lost a 2000 bike from a locked garage at my place of work and because it was there for 12 hours without me "attending" to it they refused to cover it. Read the policy document - there are plenty of other gotchas. The claims person appeared to have actual delight in her voice as she told me they wouldn't pay. No sorry or even commiseration. Then, instead of cancelling the policy they tried to automatically renew it. I fear most of the people who read this will be doing so after a failed claim. If so, please spread the word - at least we might save someone else.
