Customer Review Comments:

Bag snatched in Tunisia with iphone, ipod, gucci sunglasses, make up, £20 cash, handbag, safety deposit key. Despite supplying receipts as requested they deducted 10% for the ipod, make up, handbag, for the sunglasses 60% and told me my phone was not covered although they did want the receipt for it.

I phoned and complained and was told the 60% had been deducted as the sunglasses were a few years old. I then asked why the percentage was so high as they were in new condition and was abruptly told its not new for old. They also took an excess of £100 which ment the settlement cheque was not worth getting. When I asked why the Policy Booklet had not been sent out I was told they are not responsible for Royal Mails non delivery.

I would not recommend this Company to anyone as they are clearly only interested in getting your money and not prepared to pay out fairly in the event of a claim.

Slow and very unhelpfull. 2 months to settle.

Good Points: None
Bad Points: Slow, Unhelpfull.

Comments from Christine Swan appear to be fair and valid based on our experience with Drakefield. Sudden death in the family meant cutting short our stay abroad. Pretty straight forward we thought but Drakefield`s insatiable need for additional data seems to validate the accusation that delay tactics are used to frustrate clients in the hope that they abandon their claim. We went with the AA since it is an iconic brand with high reputation but they obviously just sub contract to Drakefield. Our claim is still in process (4 months later) and may yet be resolved amicably but if you want to avoid a lengthy/frustrating claim process, avoid Drakefield and by association, the AA.

Well shame you lost material possessions, I have only praise for Drakefield. I didn't lose sunglasses whilst on holiday, I lost my husband, from a heart attack. My son contacted Drakefield 24 hour helpline who were brilliant, arranged everything, and got my precious husband home within 10 days. They were sensitive and efficient, my claim was settled quickly, but one sometimes has the be patient. I hope you got enough money to replace your sunglasses. On the other hand I could not go to the shop and replace my husband.
