Review of Etravelinsurance Annual Travel Cover

Customer Review Comments:
In the past, whenever I've had to make a claim from other insurance companies, they have, by and large, been pretty helpful and conscious of giving good customer service.
eTravelInsure seem to have a different, more "American" approach consisting of deny, deny, deny.

We were told that when our flight was cancelled on the day of departure due to the weather, we could not make a claim because we hadn't checked in (they delayed and then cancelled the flight without allowing check in). We travelled to the airport three times to be told the flight was cancelled on each occasion, incurring parking and fuel costs, our hotel bookings couldn't be cancelled at such late notice, and it was the same story for our connecting flights at the other end and the return flights.

We phoned eTravelInsure lots of times over the next few days and each time they denied we had a legitimate claim and always refused to even take our details.

I'm sure they save thousands by fobbing people off at this first stage.

And even if you get past this barrier, the next one is harder. It seems that there are a series of company shells underwriting other companies creating a tangled web of firms, that they are able to use to wriggle out of settling claims. You talk to one company, they direct you to another saying they are not the relevant company to make a claim from. You continue this runaround for a few stages until you end up back where you started.

After weeks of trying, we ended up having to write off the whole experience and are out of pocket by hundreds of pounds.

I agree absolutely with another review of this company "they are clearly only interested in getting your money and not prepared to pay out fairly in the event of a claim".

Oh, and they've just had the cheek to ask us if we’d like to renew our policy. Guess what our response was?

Good Points: Cheap, but...
Bad Points: Not worth it at any price
