I never normally take out phone insurance but when I became the owner of an iphone 4 I decided it would be unwise not to.
I choose protect your bubble because they were new, to the point and cheap. I wish I hadn't now. I had my phone stolen 2 weeks ago. It was a theft, black and white, no ifs or buts. The phone was on a table in front of me within hands reach, within eye sight, but was taken by a cleverly organised distraction tehnique of handing out leaflets, placing them on my table and then picking it back up with the phone and moving swiftly on.
I reported it within 20 mins to my provider and the police, but had to wait until the monday to tell pyb as they are closed over the weekend. They seemed really quick at first. Claim form emailed within the hour, they called on the wednesday, asking me to hold a conference call with my service provider which I accepted. They said everything seemed to be in order, just a few more formalities and if I hadn't heard from them by the friday, to assume that my claim had gone through.
The fllowing tuesday, still nothing. I called, was met by a rude lady telling me that they were still in the process of calling the police, she couldnt be definite on when this process will be completed. I asked to be put through to the relevent department, she said they had no incoming calls so couldnt!! I asked why I was told the previous week that everything was ok. She said she couldn't comment as they do not communicate with that side of the business!! She told me a supervisor would call me, but guess what? they didn't.
I came home last night to a "lovely" letter stating that they cannot authorise my claim because "reasonable precautions were not taken" as my handset was UNSECURE, UNCONCEALED AND NOT UNDER MY CONTROL!!! Well please remind me to bolt my phone to my palm whilst keeping it in my bag the next time I want to use it.
