Customer Review Comments:
After purchasing tavel insurance from www.protectyourbubble.com, I thought I had gotten a good deal. Wasn't I wrong.
When I was on holiday in Spain, unfortunately my bag was stolen (containing my iphone, purse and sunglasses amongst other things, probably totalling £600 odd worth of stuff considering I had just been to exchange money for the holiday). Whilst I was trying on shoes in a shoe shop I had placed my bag on the floor by my left foot and leaned down to do up the shoe on my right foot and when I looked back to where my bag was, it had gone and there was no sign of anyone else in the shop who had been there before.
Following this I went to the police station, got a police report and continued to enjoy my holiday, safe in the knowledge that my travel insurance should cover this.
After returning from my trip, I phoned my insurance straight away and they filled in a claim form over the phone. They then stated they had to send me the claim form to fill out the rest. When the claim form arrived it was filled out wrong (they got my date of birth wrong and messed up a load of other things). I quickly filled out the claim form, amending the mistakes they had made and attached as many receipts as i could find, along with a bank statement to show I had withdrawn cash the day before I went (I will admit that I am not one to keep receipts) and sent the form back.
Following this I waited....A long long time. After nearly 20 days had passed and I had heard nothing from my insurance. When I phoned, I was told first that they hadn't received proof of purchase and then that actually they had and had sent me a letter nearly 2 weeks previously (which I'm pretty sure they hadn't as I had received nothing). They then asked me to email them telling them the exact details of what had happened (even though I had already told them this before). Which I did.
Another week or so of waiting and I get letter back stating that as my bag had been 'unattended' they would be unable to help me financially, stating that as I had had to 'turn back' to see that my bag was missing it was unattended and I was in no position to stop it being stolen.
I then phoned them to discuss this and explained to them that my bag had been at my feet and resting on my leg (so even though I could not see it I knew where it was) and was only actually out of my sight for less than a minute whilst I did up my shoe, who in their right mind would consider this to be unattended? But alas it seems Protect Your Bubble are indeed not in their right mind.
I purchased this insurance in the belief that if something went wrong on my holiday I would be covered financially. Unfortunately this was not the case and I now find myself out of pocket by around £600 (not a good thing seeing as I'm a student) having had to replace the things I had lost myself. It seems to me that Protect Your Bubble would not cover you for any type of theft that was not a mugging as surely for anything to be stolen it must at some point be 'unattended', or I'm sure they would find some other way to worm themselves out of giving you money.
I will never use this insurance company again and would advise others to be wary of them.
