Customer Review Comments:
Our policy with RIAS has optional emergency cover, including covering the central heating - very necessary as my 88 year old mother lives with us.
Our top of the range, relatively new boiler began leaking water. We rang RIAS who sent out a plumber 2 days later. The plumber could not identify the source of the leak, so asked us to switch the whole system off. Two of his colleagues then returned four days later, who thought that the problem was with the heat exchanger, a relatively expensive part to replace. They said that they would need to refer back to RIAS.
They had only been gone a matter of minutes when some representative from RIAS phoned to say that the fault was clearly "wear and tear" and was not covered. A return call revealed that RIAS had not even HAD a report from the plumber at that point. In any event the outcome was the same when we rang the following day (RIAS did not phone back as promised!) - they refused to accept responsibility and denied the claim.
Their actions are disgraceful considering they are recommended by Help the Aged for the older insurer. The standard response on receiving a claim appears to be, looking through other reviews, to just deny it. What a dishonest organisation.
