Customer Review Comments:

I tried to alter my Bennett's Motorcycle Insurance policy after making a few modifications to my bike. I was told the comapny I was insured with, Equity Red Star, didn't cover modified bikes. I was then told I'd have to cancel the exisiting policy and take out a new one, and it would cost me £30 to cancel the old one. I reminded them that it wasn't me cancelling the policy it was them because the policy didn't meet my specific needs. They said it didn't matter I still had to pay £30 to cancel.

I then asked how much I'd get back on my old policy (which was paid in full at the time I took it out) which still had 4 months to run. "Nothing" was the reply, "We don't refund on cancelled policies!".

After all this I decided to go to another insurance broker, if I had to renew the policy it wouldn't be with Bennetts. I told Bennetts to cancel the policy and that I'd go elsewhere - I was reminded that I'd have to pay £30 so I told them bill me.

I took out another policy the same day with a different broker. When they were reading out the details of the new policy they mentioned who my new insurance company would be, get this.......Equity Red Star! The very same company that Bennett's had told me didn't cover modified bikes!

Bennetts are the worst insurance company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, horrific experience, never again!!

Had a similarly lovely experience of Bennetts when I sold my bike 6 months into the policy. I dutifully informed them and ended up with a bill - the balance between what they owed me and the £30 cancellation fee. So if you are a 'mature' biker or just have a cheap policy, you're screwed. It would be wrong not to tell them though this would invalidate your policy. But it wouldn't cost anything. Hmmmmm.....

Don't bother. Bennetts seem cheap, the reason for this is because they're crap. Customer service is awful. There's not enough space here for me to tell you how bad they are. Trust me. Bad.

Bennetts just sent me a renewal up from £180 last year to £250 this, it must have been a serious accident I had as I can't remember claiming!! waste of space my business will go elsewhere.
