Review of Equity Red Star Car Insurance

Customer Review Comments:

Most people buy insurance based on price, however I really wish I had concentrated more on aftersales service.

The repairer didn't finish the work and the car came back with a puncture. I tried to get the insurance company to sort this out, but they expected me to organise it myself.

This company have also bought out some independent insurance brokers recently. You think that you are getting the best insurance quote but they are a front for this company. An example is Bennets in Newbury, Berks.

Good Points: Cheap
Bad Points: Poor customer service especially when things go wrong
Customer Service Rating: 1/5

I am going through a no fault claim with this company at the moment. It' been a month since I was knocked off my motorbike and his insurance have been great, paid for the damage to my clothing. Equity have been awful, when you call they can't give you a straight answer and they say someone will call back and never do. Will NOT use this company again, I went though Bennetts to this company never again.

This is so true - I am going through a claim at the moment and it has taken over 3 months already. They have lost paperwork and generally have had no customer service. We bought through First Direct who we trust, I am very dissapointed that they have used Equity for their car insurance.

I think that equity is the best I have been with, they sort everything out really quickly, the staff are more than helpful and they bend over backwards to get things done. The claims department is in Swansea and the staff are polite and very understanding. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

This is very true. Am currently going though a non fault claim with them. The customer service from the robot that answered was appalling. No empathy or customer service, didn't even say thank you when I confirmed my details when asked and was teriibly scripted. Operator barked my excess at me and told me that I'd have to organise my hire car myself.

My car insurance came up for renewal and Equity Red Star reduced the NCD from 9 years to 5 years. My broker advised this was a policy change by Red Star. This affects the premium for this year and future premiums when seeking cover in the future. Not impressed, have secured cover elsewhere at a cost Equity can't get down to.
