I am having the exactly the same problem with Homeserve regarding a leather suite purchased from Land of Leather. When I purchased the suite I was sold the inusrance cover . I was told by Homeserve that the cracking of the chair arm was a material defect and therefore not covered by the insurance policy. I intend taking this further with the the FSA/Finacial Ombudsman for Insurance mis-representation

Date: 21/11/2008 Just been told by Homeserve that after 5 months my claim is declined. My leather sofa was 'peeling' said the technician, his report said 'splitting' and 'discolouration' which I am not covered for. I got the sofa from Land of leather. My insurance - Platinum Cover, 'covers everything' I was told at purchase and given a list of defects etc covered.

Date: 10/10/2008 Its a pity that more people are not warned about these people. I have had the same problem with my plumbing and drains cover with them. If you go to the Which? website you will see that 1 in 5 people would not recommend them to a friend, now you know why.
