I was a customer of Halifax since 2005 with an automatic renewal through my bank.
Renewal on the 7th of August 2007 should have gone through as normal. As I was abroad in Spain at the time in our holiday home we did not check. Imagine my suprise on the 9th of March to recieve a letter saying my insurance had been cancelled due to non payment. I checked with my bank and no payment was even tried by Halifax. So, six months with no cover, no notice, nothing. No joy when phoning the company and told they changed brokers - as if thats my fault.
Next step insurance ombudsman.
