Customer Review Comments:

I bought a beko washing machine fronm comet 17 months ago, in all I have had 3 repairs on it before the manufacturers warranty ran out. So I took out a yearly extended warranty with Domestic and General.

Five months down the line it has broken down yet again, only for me to be told it was too expensive for them to repair it (even though its only 17 months old). I thought that they would replace it for free as it was their decision not to repair it, but oh no!!  I had to pay the rest of my extended warranty, and also they have charged me £22.00 for delivery, even though comet deliver for free. Plus £7.50 to take away my old one, which again comet do for free, so in total it has cost me a extra £49.75. When I challenged them about the charges they kept saying that comet make them pay a delivery charge
but not to the general public. What a load of rubbish!! I phoned comet, who told me that they do not charge a delivery fee at all to Domestic and General, and that all old appliances should be taken away for free too.

So I am not at all happy with Domestic and General for making me pay £49.75 for a new appliance which is only £4.37 more that the one I bought last year, this is so unfair and I am really angry!

Good Points:
Bad Points: hidden charges for delivery and to remove old appliances.

Got this under the guise of Boots 'For Life' underwritten by D&G for AEG washer dryer which died after 13 months. What followed was a month of repairs involving 3 parts replaced. They finally agreed to replace my machine, but wanted to charge £60 delivery, £15 for old machine and £15 to plumb in! Couldn't deliver for a month so found anohter but D&G wanted to deduct £80-£50 for ‘depreciation’. The engineer was charmless, unhelpful. Call centre staff did not acknowledge dreadful service, or put me through to a Supervisor. They couldn't get a part out in under a week no next day deliveries?

I work there and if you had rung comet head office and the store (we dont deal direct with store) they would confirm they charge del and rem. Read your paper work it clearly states you have to pay these and of course you pay for your plan it's for a year @ a time not a month @ a time. You are quick to judge us but not so quick to read anything such as your docs.

My Neff dishwasher has been declared beyond economic repair. DomGen have written to me saying I have to pay £410.39 + delivery as my CONTRIBUTION. It is over 5yrs old in theory I should get 33% off for a similar replacement from Comet. I can by a new one from Comet online for £379 with free delivery!!! I can only replace it via them from Comet. Why bother, put the money in the bank and fix them when they break down. £80 odd pa for what???

Same has just happened to me, only it was my TV, and now they want me to take another insurance out to cover for the replacement TV, costing 3 times more than what I had been paying. Domestic & General caught me once, they are not going to do it again!

I too am having problems with Domestic and General - They seem to have got too big for their boots. Now they advertise one price and offer a higher price when you want to take out the contract - now that is clearly breaking the law...... reported to the FSA One company to avoid - as now it does not care about its paying punters....
