Customer Review Comments:
My Father at 84 has been a customer of Saga for some time, but this was the first occasion that he has ever needed to make a claim.
He has multiple health problems and lives alone 70 miles away from me (his only relative). I called Saga to make a claim and they refused to take it as I was not on the policy. Fair enough.
They stated he had to call them to let them know that I was allowed to deal with his matters. I pointed out that he could not cope with the automated answering service and making options, and asked if they could call him to confirm. Saga refused, saying that in order for me to make a telephone claim on his behalf he had to call them. If he was able to make the telphone call then I would not have to make the claim! As an alternative I asked if they could send out a claim form, they said they don't do that! I asked how they deal with alzheimers patients, those with speech impediments deaf etc. to which the response was that such people always had a carer with them. I then asked what could they do to help, the response was that it was my problem.
We are now left in an impossible situation. Saga is supposed to be for the more mature client, yet they have effectively ensured that an older, disabled customer can not make a claim. Absolutely abysimal.
