Review of Homeserve Sofa Insurance

Customer Review Comments:

I took out insurance on my leather sofa from Land of Leather!

With 3 children it did seem like a good idea! However after a kids cup got stuck to the sofa and then took the leather away when removed, Homeserve have decided that I am not covered! Even though my policy states that accidental damage to leather is covered!

Loads of excuses and none of them really make sense, they obviously have no intention of paying out for anything!

Good Points: NONE
Bad Points: Will always find a way of not paying

We had the same experience. We purchased a 2 seater and 3 seater from Artemis and were sold insurance with it. It seemed like a good idea since we have a one year old son. Now one year after the purchase my son accidentally took a pen and made marks on the sofa when I was in the kitchen. I called up the insurers and a technician came around to look at the sofas. Today I received a letter from the insurers saying that the damage is not covered since it appears to be caused by negligence!! What do they expect me to do???? Sit near the sofa 24/7 so that no one can touch it???

Exactly the same - LoL sofa with plat. cover. Seat fillings were completely ineffective after 6 months - not even used that much. Tried to make a claim, arranged an appt for a surveyor (between 8am and 2pm!) which they managed to meet by 2 minutes! He spent a good 30mins looking and photographing the sofa before leaving. Received the 'sorry it's not covered' letter saying that it was general wear, tear and use. Waste of money & time.

I am trying to put a claim through at the moment with homeserve, I bought a leather suite from Harveys last year and have two children, and I am trying to claim from accident damage, they are so rude on the phone and made me feel like a liar, I was so upset my husband called them back but they refused to speak to him, I feel like I have been totally ripped off.

I have almost the same complaint about land of leather and home serve. Approximatly 2.5 years ago, I bought a pair of sofa from land of leather, and they insisted that I take up Homeserve insurance for 5 years. It is platinum cover and they said it covered any damage. When I made a claim they say it is not covered.
