Marmalade is comprehensive insurance written in the name of a learner driver enabling him or her to practise in a family or friendís car, without risking the insurance status or no claims bonus of the car owner.

Why Consider Marmalade:

Marmalade is an award winning insurance that enables a learner driver to practise in a family or friend’s car. Should the Learner driver be responsible for an accident in the car, any claim is made against Marmalade and does not risk the insurance of the car owner, which keeps the car owner’s No Claims Bonus intact.

The maximum premium is £93 per month, with regional reductions and further discounts if cover is taken for 2 or 3 months and the policy may be renewed as often as required. Marmalade will remain valid until the learner driver passes the practical driving test.

Marmalade provides comprehensive insurance cover for any car up to insurance group 32 (out of 50), with a maximum market value of £20,000 and this caters for the vast majority of family cars which are ideal for learners.

Premiums are very low compared to adding the learner to the car owner’s policy. In urban areas premiums could rise by £4,000 to add a 17 year old learner to a parent’s insurance premium for just a modest family car. However, many insurance companies do not allow drivers under the age of 21, or in some cases 25, to be added to the parent’s policy.

Parents have peace of mind for a relatively low cost - they can help their children have as much practice as possible in real driving conditions, without worrying about their own No Claims Bonus. The Driving Standards Agency recommends at least 22 hours of private practice - Marmalade is a simple, cheap and popular insurance which enables learner drivers to achieve this.
