Terrible claims experience. Never ending attempts to make you settle as cheaply as possible.
Initially gave an allowance of £7 a roll for wallpaper to be replaced. Had to point out that less than 4% of the wallpapers on sale at Homebase could be bought for £7 or under (an actual selection of 3 very poor quality wallpapers in 5 different colours). Increased the allowance as soon as I complained.
Same happened with the cost of the tiles - allocated £20 a square metre including fitting. Had to point out that it would be impossible to get tiles AND labour for £20 a square metre whereupon they miraculously increased the allowance.
If I wansnt the sort of person who is confident to challenge their decisions I would have been severely out of pocket. Approx half of the tiles in the bathroom were damaged and have to be replaced. The same tiles are no longer available and they will only pay to replace the damaged tiles. If you don't want unmatching tiles on the wall you have to pay for the replacement of the undamaged ones yourself.
NOT ALL INSURERS TAKE THIS STANCE - so make sure you shop around!
