I was reviewing the details of an on-line quote on the Heritage web-site for a 13/60 Herald when the company rang me to ask how the quote compared. I was able to discuss the details and issues I had with the rep on the phone (details showing up as saloon not estate) who advised she thought she could probably find an even cheaper quote than the on-line quote given and proceeded to do so.
Given the understanding, the knowledge of car and DVLA-related issues, generally pleasant manner and the willingness to spend time to get the details right, I was reassured about the customer service side of things and took the quote. I'd been put off a couple of other classic insurance companies by bad reviews targetting poor customer service and admin attitudes.
I don't mind paying extra for decent customer service and with insurance, paying a middle man to handle the details is a plus, but it's an excellent quote by anyone's standards. Hope any further interaction lives up to the initial promise.

Been with heritage 4 years.
They always confuse me by adding breakdown cover by default - you have to ask to remove it. Not once in 4 years did they point me to the fact they have special policies for VW's - I was on a generic policy. If you go over your mileage, then try and update your policy you are charged for uninsured miles - i.e. they take the policy from their last odometer reading not the existing (i.e. if you had a crash they would not pay, yet they are happy to charge you for that now risk free mileage period) - an extension for 6 months was the same price as insuring my car on a standard non classic policy elsewhere. Staff are pretty unhelpful in my experience. NOT RECOMMENDED Comment by Andrew
