I requested a call out because of a water leak at back of a kitchen cupboard under the sink. They came out in 48 Hours - this problem not considered an emergency when they did say they could respond more quickly.
The "engineer" when he arrived looked at the problem and said there was a leak on the connection from the washing machine but as it was a non-standard fitting he could only help by turning off the water supply to the kitchen! I was amazed that a John Lewis machine used a non-standard fitting but thanked the "engineer" profuseley for all his help and sent him on his way.
The next day I called in a plumber and he tightened up the fixing and no other problem found. He confirmed that it was a usual type of fitting and charged me a call out fee. I did claim this fee back from Homeserve, it took ages and I was also given a compensation fee of £1. Yes £1.
