My mains water supply pipe had three quite separate leaks within nine months.
The contractor, Complete Water Solutions, made very good, acceptable repairs to the first two leaks, although they did comment that the overall pipe was very old and in poor condition.
Consequently when they arrived to fix the third leak I expected them to honour the contract, "HomeServe will replace sections of pipe up to 20 metres unless arepair would be just as effective." No chance, HomeServe will only sanction a repair regardless of the pipe's condition and you can see why they adopt that interpretation of their policy. The terms of the policy only allow 2 claims in any 12 month policy term, so if basically the pipe is at the end of serviceable life there's every chance it will fail as mine did and you will be faced with the total cost of a complete replacement. Over £1400 in my case. So far they are refusing to meet any of the cost. Their 'customer help' line is a total oxymoron.
I am now awaiting a ruling from the Financial Ombudsman.
