Review of Insure & Go Travel

Have never reviewed anything online before, but dut to the service I received from Insure & Go Ii feel compelled to make this my first.

My girlfriend fainted in Ibiza and cracked her head very badly on the pavement. She was in intensive care for a brief period, an indescribably worrying experience in itself made worse by the fact that despite passing Insure & Go's details to the hospital staff they completely ignored any attempt the hospital made to confirm that she had a policy with them.

Whilst worrying about my partner, I was constantly being shouted at by the hospital staff who were at the point of refusing my girlfriend any further medical care until Insure & Go sent them my girlfriends policy details. Insure & Go were adamant that they had sent this, but the hospital said they hadn't received this and showed me the e-mails/faxes and evidence of phone calls made with no response.

When eventually this got sorted, over 24 hours later, it became clear that my partner would have to stay in hospital some time. As we were due to check out of out hotel within the next 48 hours I asked them to arrange for another hotel room for me to stay - as was their responsibility as part of the policy. They never once called me back, I constantly had to call them to find out if they had booked me somewhere. It got to the day where I was due to check out of the hotel where we had been staying for our holiday and I still had nowhere to go. So I had to check out, take both mine and my partners luggage to the hospital and continue to chase them to find me somewhere.

When eventually that day they did get back to me I was given the name of a hotel in a town that I didn't recognise and was convinced wasn't even on Ibiza. I asked the person that called me if it was and she said she didn't know, it was merely on a list of their 'approved' hotels (which basically meant it was within their meagre budget). So I asked the hospital staff where this town/hotel was and they told me it was in Majorca!

By this time I was at my wits end. I hadn't slept or eaten for three days because I was worried about my girlfriend. I was constantly having to chase, shout or beg for help from Insure & Go and as of that evening I had nowhere to stay. With that I had to sort out my own accommodation, pay for it myself for a further two nights until someone was able to locate Ibiza on a map and found a hotel room for me and my partner who was due out of hospital but who couldn't fly home for a further 4 days. When eventually she was fit to fly I had to go through the same process all over again - they promised to arrange a flight, but it took a day and a half of me chasing them to get this arranged.

We eventually got home safely and I was a good few hundred pounds out of pocket due to a huge mobile phone bill (as they never called me, I always had to call them) and various hotel bills. But the experience left me so drained that I couldn't face having to deal with them again to claim my money back which I regret as this is money they clearly owe me. But the thought of having to deal with those people again was too much to bare.

Wasn't surprised when I returned an read hundreds of similar horror stories from people who've had a similar experience with this outfit. A truly shocking company, run by people with little ability/compassion. Even the second worst insurance company have got to be miles better than this lot!

Good Points: They are good at taking your money.
Bad Points: They are incapable of providing the service for which the customer pays.
