Customer Review Comments:

I had Keycare Insurance and the one time I lost my door keys I had been away for a week and could not find them on the morning of my return.

I telephoned Keycare as I had taken out insurance with them (ie I had an active account running this year) to ask if they would arrange a locksmith. I was told that they only covered for the cost of getting keys cut. They would not pay for a locksmith! They also did not inform me when I telephoned them that my keys had been handed in on the day I went away, even though they had sent me a letter which I discovered once I did get into my home!

When I looked at the policy it states that the cover is for 'locksmith charges if you lock yourself out of your home or vehicle'. I phoned them up and was told you are NOT covered if your keys are LOST!!! only if you lock yourself out accidently. This is not clear on the policy.

When I asked if I could have or collect my keys I was told that I would have to pay for another years insurance even though I have paid for insurance this year as I had not changed my fob over when I was sent a second one with a new policy number on it.

This is just to warn people who take out this policy - when I needed them to help me it did not happen - they could have phoned me as they have my mobile number when my key was found and I could have collected it on my way home. Instead I arrived back in London at night without my door keys.

Last Friday we were locked out of the house. We called Debenhams insurance, they asked me to contact the locksmith and fix it then call key care on Monday. Locksmith charged 120 for the service. When I called Keycare to claim this, they said that they can cover only 50 because we did not lose the key. Loss of key is covered up to 1000 it seems.
