I automatically booked the top range of Breakdown Cover when I took out my car insurance with One Call.
Yesterday afternoon I was on my way out when my car wouldn't start. (All I needed was a jump start to get me going so I could get a new battery - something that happens to many of us). I immediately telephoned One Call and was told that I had to first pay the excess of £50. This was the first time I was told that there was an excess.
I checked through all the paperwork and no mention at all was made of how much the Breakdown Cover cost me, especially that there was an excess on it. I could have been ant where, ie a motorway, on my own and there I was being forced into paying the £50.
I have now cancelled the Breakdown Cover and seriously thinking of not renewing my insurance with them when the time comes.
