I have been with them since 2003 and have never made a claim even though my partner has had a knee operation and heart surgery in the past because his company paid him.
Unfortunately a short while ago, my husband hurt his back at work and was not paid for two months. He had doctor's certificates and his company paid for physiotherapy treatment. We put a claim into Paymentshield for loss of his earnings and they have declined this on the basis that he did not get an MRI scan. As his problem is muscular and not skeletal why would the doctor waste NHS money sending him for a scan he doesn't really need.
It seems that they have used caveats in the T & Cs to get out of making any payments to him. I can only guess how much we've paid into this insurance over the last 8 years and they've raised the monthly payment to £89 now.
They referred me to terms and conditions which I don't think were ever sent to me. Besides, when I took the policy out, it was with Hamilton Limited and not Aviva so I wouldn't have thought the T & Cs would be the same anyway.
