They treated me so badly I couldn't believe it. I initially set up insurance for my car with this company on November 1st, costing £427.38.

After reviewing the details of the cover and the money taken out of my account, I realised that it didn't suit my needs. I realise I am partly to blame for this but I was told that it would not be a problem at all to cancel the whole thing and I would have the money back in my account in 3-5 days - try 50 days later!! It was only on the 21st December that I actually received this large sum of money back into my account! This was after I'd threatened them with legal action and got the financial ombudsman involved.

I had to spend £15 on calls and god knows how long on hold - even then, the customer services staff I talked to didn't seem to know what was going on, who was dealing with it. On one occasion the person I spoke to was incredibly blunt and didn't once apologise for this huge inconvenience! It was only when very senior staff were involved that I was actually given the money back. All in all, I feel this shows that their financial department is a mess and personally, dealing with Quinn Direct was a really horrible experience.

This does not surprise me at all. My car engine caught fire so I hastily jumped out of car, pulled bonnet, quickly un-latched the battery and poured a bottle of pop I had with me to put out the flames which were confined to the wiring loom between battery and engine block. This saved the car being totally written off by fire. When I made a claim they refused to accept responsibility saying it was an electrical fault even though the car was on "fire" which I was covered for. They then told me I should have let the car burn out and I would have been covered!! I would not use them again or recommend them at all.

Yes, I agree. They are evasive when questioned and different employees give different information. Some of the information provided is ambiguous. I wish I had never been enticed by their 'low' insurance. Provisional drivers check what your premium is before you become a full llicence holder.

The claims rep we dealt with was as useful as a window in a coffin. BTW God forbid you actually pass your driving test because then the premiums leap by about 50%.
