Customer Review Comments:
We had one bike insured at Bennetts. We wanted to buy another bike and take out a multi-bike policy.

We were mis-sold and ended up with two policies complete with two lots of legal cover that we did not want. After more than eight adjustments to our direct debits and many hours wasted on phone calls and letters, Bennetts admitted to some confusion and, as a good will gesture offered a reductiion in charges. Job done you might think..............No.

Next was a thirty quid charge to cancel a policy that we didn't want or ask for in the first place. We queried this charge. Bennetts responded by unleashing the hounds. We now have a pack of aggressive shaved head thugs making all sorts of threats on behalf of Bennetts. In mid discussion Bennetts sold the alleged debt on to a collection agency.

Good Points: None

I recently took out a new policy with Bennetts thinking I had a reasonable quote. A few weeks in, my first correspondence received was from Bennetts explaining that my policy had been cancelled due to them not receiving NCB proof. This was the first contact I had with them after taking out the policy. I don't think its a great way to do business and subsequent discussions have been short, sharp and extreemly unfriendly. I have now had to pay an extra 40.53 (cancellation and overdue balance) which I was told was non-waiverable even though I hadn't received any requests or other correspondence from them until cancellation.

I recently moved house and notified Bennetts of my new address. I got a letter saying I now owed them 25 'administration fee' as 'certain policy amendments are subject to a maximum 25 fee'. Apparently this includes letting them know you've moved!! What other company does that?? When I said I'd just cancel the policy then, they said 'That will cost you an extra 30'!

Just to add my experience: Bennetts renewed my policy without asking and they 'fined' me 20 for canceling. Then they returned the money they'd taken minus another 30. They couldn't explain why and promised to repay it. A week later - no sign of it, seems I need to make another call to their expensive call centre. Do you imagine they'd pay up if you needed them?

Bennetts doubled my premium on the 2nd year and took the money witout my consent from an existing card! After 44 years of no claims biking I suppose I am lucky not to have come across such poor practice before! They could not care less. BEWARE!!

I totally agree with you - the same happened to me - I wouldn't take out another insurance policy with Bennetts if you paid me, they are a total rip off. I was threatened with debt collection agency two days after cancelling.
