Customer Review Comments:

I have been paying my premium to Payment Shield for several years.

Last July I was made redundant and decided to make a claim against my policy. The company wrote back asking me to fill in a very lengthy form including two sections that had to be completed by my previous employers and the jobcentre. I did everything they asked and sent the form back.

They replied by saying they now wanted another form from the jobcentre, by now I was on a full time training course (which I am paying for myself), I had to take time off to visit the jobcentre to get the extra form.

I sent the form off and a few days later they replied and said that they couldn't pay me any money because I'm on a training course !!! (The one I'm paying for out of my own money!!!)

Very bad experience.

Good Points: none
Bad Points: Unfriendly and unhelpful

After pay my premium for 10 years I got breast cancer. Because I was going through ops and treatment etc I didn't make my claim until 10 months later. After the stress of jumping through hoops being treated like a criminal for putting in a late claim I am told they are not paying me. The reason why - the company I worked for when I went off sick ceased trading while I was off sick, I could provide all wage slips p45 etc BUT as I was paid a salary not by the hour my wage slip stated I am told I only worked 1 hour per week and as there was no company to back this up. Payment Shield have used this not to pay out.

I filled the lenghty form and now they have rejected my claim saying I was self-employed and the company is still trading. I was made redundant by my fathers company and had no choice in the matter. I was employed by a company - I was not self employed but their definition is in the small print.

I was made redundant in Oct. They said I have pay in leiu however you spell it. Then there are 30 days waiting and now they want another form from the job centre. Do I have any real chance of it being paid I wonder? I did not start paying this so that I had to wait 3 months before they pay out, I was made redundant on SAID day so therefore that is when they should pay it. They are happy to take your money each month for years though!!!

I have also had trouble with Paymentshield. I understand their need for lengthy forms and proof but, after all that, they have refused to pay out saying I resigned or took voluntary redundancy. I did neither of those things. In fact I was part of a small, failing company and was terminated without pay because the company had no money.

l have also atempted to make a claim but they have me jumping through hoops, forms don't conform, etc. Timewasting so they hope you will give up. Am l missing something? l have been made redundant, what concern is it of theirs if l do or do not claim from the jobcentre? My agreement is with them, not a third party. Any excuses to avoid paying out.
