Customer Review Comments:
My wife sufferred a head injury whilst on holiday in the Dominican Republic. Taken to hospital by ambulance where she had a CT scan - no fracture but considerable inflammation. Due to neurological symptoms and inflammation, the doctor prescribed medication to protect brain and recommended admission to ICU. Virgin delayed authorisation of treatment and admission for several hours because "they had issues with the hospital". Because of Virgin's procrastination, my wife did not get the medication immediately and she was left on a trolley in the emergency ward all night, without medical care. My wife was in considerable pain due to the lack of medication and was severely distressed.
Furthermore, Virgin failed to organise a second CT scan so that we could obtain a permission to fly certificate - we were due to fly home 3 days later. After considerable stress, I arranged the second scan, which Virgin agreed to pay, along with the other medical expenses.
My wife was lucky, she survived without any life-changing injuries - the next person may not be as fortunate.
